On October 17, 1931, Senayangba Jamir and Takatula of Ungma Village gave birth to Chubatoshi Jamir.

Jamir is the great-grandson of Jungshinokdang, who helped spread Christianity to Nagaland by meeting Rev. Edwin W. Clark, an American Christian missionary, in the late 19th century.

He completed his elementary education in Mokokchung, his intermediate studies in the arts at Kolkata’s Scottish Church College, and his higher education at Allahabad University, where he later earned his B.A. and LL.B. degrees.

In 1958, Shri Jamir wed Imkonglemla, a Senkalemba daughter, and the two of them were blessed with three sons and two daughters.

In 1996, his younger daughter passed away, leaving him with two sons. Ten grandchildren are born to Shri and Smt. Jamir.

He has never missed a Sunday church service while in the state, despite being a believer in all religions up to this point.
