Bowers’ mom remarried when he was still a toddler. The alleged killer lived with his mother and stepfather in Florida until they parted ways a year after marriage.

After returning to Pennsylvania, the alleged shooter and his mom moved in with his grandparents (maternal). His grandparents raised him as his mother had health issues.

Robert attended Baldwin High School before dropping out in 1989 and began working as a trucker. Bowers’ neighbors described him as a ghost because he rarely interacted with others.

Robert Bowers Boasted His Intent On Social Media

According to reports, Robert Bowers is accused of spewing prejudiced and antisemitic vitriol online months before the attack.

He is accused of calling immigrants “invaders” and posting offensive memes, some of which claimed that Jews were the “enemy of white people.”

He allegedly wrote on a web forum the day of the shooting, “I can’t stand by and watch my people get slaughtered. Ignore your lenses; I’m going in.

He actively participated in commenting on social media platforms like Gab and spread conspiracies about Jews there.

Bowers created an account on Gab in January 2018 using the username “onedingo,” and reportedly stated in his account bio that “Jews are the children of Satan.”

The cover image was a photograph with the number 1488, used by white supremacists and neo-Nazis to allude to David Lane’s “Fourteen Words” and the Nazi rallying cry Heil Hitler.

Bowers was active on social media and frequently posted similar racist and anti-Semitic remarks. He frequently reposted articles created by others with similar viewpoints, such as Patrick Little.

He has even criticized Donald Trump for being a “globalist, not a nationalist” and for allegedly being encircled and under the authority of Jews.

Robert Bowers Had 21 Weapons Registered To His Name

Police discovered Mr. Bowers had 21 registered guns after his arrest. Other than that, he was unknown to the police.

Police officers asserted that Mr. Bowers said, “These people are committing genocide on my people. I just want to kill Jews,” after being shot and injured at the synagogue.

By arguing that he made the comment before receiving his Miranda warning, his defense team sought to exclude the quotation from the jury’s consideration during the trial. But, a judge dismissed the motion.

Robert Bowers’ attorney has proposed a plea deal in which the death penalty would be suspended.
