Philonise Floyd Family Tree
Floyd was born and raised in a family of five children. His great-grandfather, Hillery Thomas Stewart Sr, was born into slavery but gained his freedom after the Civil War.
His mother, Larcenia Floyd, and father George Perry Floyd Sr., separated when they were young. Then, his mother moved with the family to Houston, Texas, in search of work.
They settled in Cuney Homes, a public housing development in a historically African-American neighborhood known for its struggles with poverty.
His brother George was known to be close to his mother, who was affectionately called “Miss Cissy.” She was described as the center of his world, and he even had a tattoo of her name on his torso.
Unfortunately, their mother passed away in 2018, and the reason behind her death was not shared with the public.
