Tributes have flown in for Gaelic games commentator Paudie Palmer, who lost his ten-day battle for life after a road traffic collision on Christmas.
Mr. Palmer breathed his last in Cork University Hospital (CUH) after being in critical condition after the accident outside Innishannon in west Cork on December 29.
A Ukrainian national has since been presented before Bandon District Court on four counts concerning the incident, including a hit-and-run charge.

Paudie Palmer, originally from Templenoe in Kerry, is survived by his family members, including wife Colette and daughters Claire and Emily.
He also leaves behind his three brothers, Denis, John, Richie, his grandson Lucas, his extended family, and a wide circle of friends.
Likewise, Mr. Palmer was the uncle of Claudine Keane, a former model and wife of the Irish football coach and former football star Robbie Keane.

Claudine, who is also the goddaughter of Mr. Palmer, was the daughter of his brother Denis.
She asked people to pray for her uncle over Christmas in a heart-touching social media post.
Mr. Palmer’s death was a blow to the Keane family, who recently also suffered a bereavement with Robbie Keane’s grandmother, Bernadette Keane, who passed away in Dublin.
The footballer’s mother, Anne, also died in October after a long-fought battle against Lung Cancer. He hailed his late mother as “the rock of the family.”
Mr. Palmer, who also worked as a teacher in Bandon, was a popular broadcaster in Cork and was well-known for his sports reports on C103FM.
C103FM/96FM director Kieran McGeary said his death was a massive loss for both the media and the world of sports.

Mr. Palmer, 65, was a well-known sports broadcaster with 96FM and C103 in Cork.
Originally from Co Kerry, he had taught at St Brogan’s Community School in Bandon for over four decades.
Mr. Palmer was injured in a hit-and-run incident in Co Cork and died in hospital during his treatment.

He was critically injured on December 29, 2022, after a vehicle hit him at Dunkereen Crossroads near Innishannon.
Tánaiste Micheál Martin noted that Mr. Palmer was “part of everyone’s lives in Cork for many years, particularly those of us involved in sport and Gaelic games.”
He also shared that people relished every word of his commentary on games since he had terrific insights into the game.
An Arrest Has Been Made For Paudie Palmer Death
A 33-year-old Ukrainian man appeared in court concerning the hit-and-run incident in Innishannon on December 29.
Bohdan Bezverkhyi, 33, is set to appear before Bandon District Court again on January 19, 2023.
The suspect was recently remanded in custody concerning charges arising from the incident in west Cork that led to Paudie Palmer’s death.
Bezverkhyi, with an address at Rigsdale House, Rigsdale, Ballinhassig, was charged with failing to assist the injured Party, report the incident, and stop and keep his vehicle at the scene.
He was reportedly arrested at 2:52 pm on December 30 and has since expressed remorse to officers for what had occurred.
Det Garda O’Donnell said Mr. Bezverkhyi made various admissions. He pleaded guilty to some charges.
“I am very sorry for what happened. I have no excuse. I am sorry for my actions,” Bezverkhyi reportedly said.
