According to the daily record, a statement on her official social media page shared the news of her death: “December 29, 2022. Vivienne Westwood died peacefully and was surrounded by her family in Clapham, South London.

Sources revealed she was still designing, working on her book and making art in her last days.

In her autobiography Get a Life: The Diaries of Vivienne Westwood, the “mother of punk,” the fashion diva wrote, “Culture is necessary for human beings to evolve into better creatures.”

What Happened To Fashion Designers?

The renowned fashion designer died due to old age. There is no information about her illness reported in the media.

 In a statement from her team obtained by People, no immediate cause of death was revealed. The Fashion diva died “peacefully and surrounded by friends and family in Clapham, South London.”

Besides her fashion label, she was a fierce activist and, over the years, pulled off many protests and stunts to raise awareness of the climate crisis.

As an activist, Vivienne supported a wide range of causes. From civil liberties and human rights to sustainable fashion and a world without nuclear arms, the fashion diva was on the frontlines and in the trenches trying to make the world a better place.

The godmother of punk, who permanently altered the fashion industry, gave control of her clothes Company to her friend and fellow designer Jeff Banks, 79, shortly before Christmas.

As of December 22, Vivienne Westwood Ltd. has Jeff Banks on its board of directors, per a filing with Companies House. The prosperous Company has more than £50 million in cash and assets.

 Before her death, Vivienne handed over the reins of her £70m fashion empire to outspoken mogul Jeff Banks and her husband just two weeks later.

Her third husband, Andreas Kronthaler, an Austrian designer 25 years her junior, was made a director and secretary of his wife’s property business, worth £ 18 million.

Her elder son, Benjamin Westwood, started working as a photographer of erotica when he was 28. Later, he followed in his mother’s footsteps and forged a career in fashion.

Vivienne’s younger son Joe Corré was born in 1967 and was given the surname Corré, derived from his dad’s maternal grandmother, a Sephardic Jew from Portugal.

Joe has 30 Agent Provocateur shops in 14 different countries and was awarded MBE for his services to the fashion industry, which he rejected.

According to Dailymail, her two sons, one an erotic photographer and founder of the Agent Provocateur lingerie brand, has no formal role in their mother’s business but may inherit her £ 150 million fortune.
