Communities in Hoboken and Waycross, Georgia, are joining together in prayers and support for Morgan Thomas Hayman as she mourns the sudden and unexpected passing of her husband, John “Bryant” Hayman, at the age of 31. Bryant passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, following a long-term illness.

Born and raised in Waycross, Bryant spent his early years in the community he called home. In 2019, he and his spouse, Morgan, settled in Brantley County. Bryant was a Forester for the Carbon Project at Living Carbon, contributing his skills to the environmental field.

A sports enthusiast, Bryant was a four-year starter for the Gator Football and Baseball teams and a proud member of the Ware County High School class of 2011. His achievements on the field included winning the MVP Award, earning All-Region honors twice, receiving the Most Outstanding Baseball Player award, and gaining All-State honors during his final year at Ware County High School.

Bryant continued his baseball journey at Valdosta State University, playing for the Blazers for four years and garnering numerous awards. His talent extended to a professional level when he signed with the Minnesota Twins as a free agent. Following his baseball career, Bryant graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) with a bachelor’s degree in forestry.

Despite his numerous accomplishments, those who knew him recall Bryant for his humility. Beyond the sports field, he was a baseball enthusiast, a spontaneous traveler, a coffee shop connoisseur, and someone who enjoyed hunting ducks and turkey. He also devoted his time to coaching and mentoring young men in baseball. His love for family and faith were paramount, and Christmas held a special place in his heart.
