Tom was a genuine Red who made the Cincinnati region his home after playing and remained highly connected with the organization,” the team stated.
Resuscitation efforts were futile, and he died in the early afternoon. According to the statement, no wrongdoing is suspected.
His perfect game against the Dodgers was one of just 23 in major league history, and it was the only one for the Reds, baseball’s oldest professional organization.
