Hamilton, ON – Spencer Laffin, a cherished member of Hamilton, Ontario, tragically passed away after being identified as the victim of a targeted shooting incident. The 33-year-old father, brother, and son was confirmed deceased following the incident on Nebo Road and Hempstead Drive. Details emerged during a police press conference, where Detective Sergeant Sara Beck revealed that the investigation points to at least two suspects involved—a gunman and a getaway driver.
The harrowing events unfolded around 5 p.m. on Monday, prompting multiple 911 calls that led police to the front parking lot of a business site at 70 Nebo Rd. It’s been reported that the incident began in front of Satellite Tires, a family-owned business belonging to the Laffin family. Prior to the shooting, there was a brief interaction between Laffin and the gunman.

Tragically, Spencer Laffin sustained multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at a neighboring farm. The gunman, described as a six-foot-nine Black man in dark clothing and a blue medical mask, departed north on Nebo after the shooting. Police are actively searching for a dark-colored SUV that stopped at Nebo and Hempstead before the incident.
Law enforcement is urging those who were in the commercial area between 2:30 and 5:15 p.m. on Monday to review their security cameras for any footage related to the suspect or the vehicle. The investigation involves speaking with Laffin’s colleagues and a meticulous examination of video footage around the crime scene. This incident marks Hamilton’s tenth homicide this year.
