Brooke is speaking out about experiencing sexual assault more than three decades later. She also explains why she feels ready to share her experience.
“I’ve been processing it for this long… Before, I was never prepared.” Shields said in an interview with People magazine, “I had to process it in my own manner and on my own terms.
It just felt like the perfect time at this particular moment. “Everyone processes their own trauma on a different timeline.”
Shields, 58, claimed the unwanted sexual encounter happened in her twenties following a meeting with an unnamed Hollywood industry figure to talk about a potential film project.

Shields reveals that she was sexually assaulted 30 years back in the new documentary Pretty Baby, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
The next part of the documentary is premiering on April 3 on Hulu.
She described the sexual assault that happened soon after she graduated from Princeton University when she was having trouble finding employment following her early success.
Shields had dinner with the man in issue, presumably to talk about finding a new job. She returned to his hotel room to wait for a cab.
In the documentary, Shields says that that man asked her to return to the hotel, and he would order her a cab.
But he disappeared for a while when she went to the hotel room. Sometime later, the man came back naked and assaulted her.
According to her account in the documentary, she didn’t fight back; rather, she simply froze.
