Perrette and Arklie dated for a while before getting engaged in December 2011.
The actress announced the engagement through her Twitter. However, she also revealed that she wouldn’t marry Arklie until Proposition 8 is invalidated.

She posted a picture with her fiance, with the quoted text, “Me & #MyMarine are engaged now but will NOT GET MARRIED UNTIL #Prop8 is OVER!”
A constitutional proposal known as Prop 8 that was on the California ballot sought to outlaw same-sex unions.
It was passed in November 2008 and was deemed invalid after a significant legal battle in June 2013.

American former actress Pauley Perrette married controversial Canadian actor and musician Francis “Coyote” Shivers in 2000.
It was Coyote’s second marriage; he first married a singer and model, Bebe Buell, Liv Tyler’s mother, in 1992.
However, the marriage ended in 1999 as they divorced after a year-long separation.

Perrette and Coyote’s relationship did not last long, as they separated in 2004 before their divorce was finalized in 2006.
Their relationship was rocky, as Perrette gained a restraining order against Coyote.
Perrette, Buell, and Coyote’s ex-girlfriend Angela Garber all allege that he has a pattern of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse and legal harassment.
The Los Angeles Superior Court declared Shivers a vexatious litigant in 2008, thus barring him from filing court action without a judge’s review.
