Maddy Anholt (1988-2023) – The world mourns the loss of Maddy Anholt, a versatile talent known for her work as an actress, comedian, author, and domestic abuse campaigner. Maddy, aged 35, passed away after bravely battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. This devastating diagnosis came shortly after she welcomed her daughter, Opal, into the world.
Maddy was celebrated for her appearances on various TV shows, including ITV’s The Emily Atack Show and BBC Three’s Sunny D. She also had her own BBC Radio comedy series called No Smoke, which revolved around a vape cafe and was set in Dundee.
In addition to her entertainment career, Maddy was a passionate advocate against domestic abuse. In 2018, she ran the London Marathon, raising funds for The National Brain Appeal in memory of her grandmother Joan Anholt. Maddy was also an ambassador for Women’s Aid, and she used her creative talents to raise awareness of abusive relationships, particularly focusing on educating younger individuals.
Her debut book, How To Leave Your Psychopath, delved into coercive control and abusive relationships and was published last year. She had an upcoming fiction book, Red Flags, set to be released next year.
In memory of Maddy, her family has set up a GoFundMe page to support her one-year-old daughter, Opal, which has already surpassed its initial goal, a testament to the impact Maddy had on her community.
