The triathlon legend, who captured hearts with her fierce competitive spirit, bid farewell on Saturday, November 11, 2023, surrounded by her family. At the age of 73, Louise’s legacy remains etched in the annals of triathlon history.
Triathlon Canada expressed their sorrow through a heartfelt post on Sunday, stating, “We are saddened to learn of the passing of Louise Atkinson. A fierce competitor and a loyal friend, Louise will be missed by all who knew her and who had the opportunity to race with her. Our thoughts are with her family.”

Louise Atkinson’s triathlon journey was nothing short of extraordinary. Since 2013, she consistently participated in every ITU World Triathlon Grand Final, showcasing her skills in prestigious events around the globe. Transitioning to the 65-69 age group in 2015, she continued her impressive journey, earning accolades at events such as the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Chicago in 2015 and Cozumel in 2016.

A pinnacle moment came in 2017 when Louise proudly stood on the World Triathlon podium, securing the bronze medal at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Rotterdam. Her prowess continued in 2018, where she represented Canada at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Gold Coast, earning a silver medal in her age group during the standard distance world championship race.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Louise Atkinson Clark was known for her radiant force within the triathlon community.
