Lauren qualified for the national high jump at 9 and was among the top 8 in the field, in an All-American 4 times.

She won the title of Washington State Champion in the high jump and secured the 10th position in the heptathlon at the USATF Outdoor Junior Championships.

Lauren McCluskey’s parents, Matt and Jill McCluskey, are the University of Washington faculty members. They both joined WSU in 1998.

Matthew D. McCluskey teaches physics, astronomy, and materials science at Washington State University (WSU), Pullman. He earned a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1997.

Previously, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) in California from 1997 to 1998.

Jill completed her Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics and Political Science in 1989 at the University of California and earned a Master’s in economics at Georgetown University.

“The university acknowledges and deeply regrets that it did not handle Lauren’s case as it should have and that, at the time, its employees failed to fully understand and respond appropriately to Lauren’s situation,”
