A 23-year-old was found dead at a resort in Mexico on Friday (3 March). The victim, Kiara Agnew boyfriend, Ryan Friesen, has been arrested for suspected homicide.
The dead woman’s family came forward and revealed her identity as Kiara Agnew from Dawson Creek in northeast British Columbia. The entire Dawson Creek community is pouring her tragic death.
According to the prosecution, the tragic incident occurred on the Mayan Riviera, a section of beachfront south of Cancun. The incident reportedly occurred at a Playa del Carmen resort town hotel.

Kiara Agnew Boyfriend Ryan Friesen- Arrested In Suspected Homicide
Kiara Agnew’s boyfriend, Ryan Friesen, has been taken into Police custody for the suspected homicide of her.
Kiara’s family said she went on vacation to celebrate her 24th birthday in Playa del Carmen with Ryan Friesen. The vacation was supposed to be her dream vacation. Sadly, it turned into a nightmare.

In a statement published in Spanish, SSP Solidaridad reported that Secretariat of Public Security officers detained Ryan after discovering “a lifeless body of Kiara with possible signs of violence in a motel located in the Xcalacoco neighborhood.”
According to Mexican prosecutors, the suspect is in jail, and forthcoming charges are being considered. Mexican Police informed Agnew’s family that her body was found in the laundry room of the resort.
Hotel staff discovered Kiara’s body on the floor next to the accused suspect, who was sleeping beside her. The employee pointed out 27-year-old Ryan.
Friesen is originally from Canada. He had visible blood stains on his cloth and swelling on his hands, and next to him was a woman who was face-up on the ground and had obvious bruises and blood stains.

Ryan Friesen was detained for his possible involvement in the femicide of Kiara Agnew that took place in a Riviera Maya hotel, according to a news release from the State Attorney General’s Office.

Police said there was enough evidence to warrant the Canadian man’s immediate arrest on murder suspicion. At the resort south of Cancun, a man from Dawson Creek is being held on suspicion of killing his 23-year-old girlfriend.

Kiara Agnew’s Family – Meet Her Parents
Kiara Agew is originally from Plaster Rock, N.B. She worked at the Lake View Credit Union in Dawson Creek. The victim’s family announced the loss in a Facebook post.
Michele Lebesque is Kiara Agnew’s mother. The late woman’s aunt Katlyn Levesque said she still doesn’t want it to be true. Katlyn said that Kiara grew up in the New Brunswick village of Plaster Rock and relocated to Dawson Creek as a teenager.
The heartbroken aunt said her niece’s death was beyond tragic for everyone involved.
The 23-year-old’s family GoFundMe page to raise money for the costs of bringing her home. As of this writing, $19,883 has been raised towards bringing the 23-year-old home.
The victim’s family described her as a loving and caring person. She was an animal lover and also enjoyed traveling a lot.
