Green Bay, WI – The Green Bay community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Joel Henselin, who passed away following a Slackline accident at his home. Joel was discovered in the backyard with a slackline wrapped around his neck, and despite the immediate efforts of a family friend who cut him down and called for help, he could not be revived.
Officials arrived promptly at the scene, performing CPR and providing other forms of first aid before transporting Joel to the hospital. Despite their efforts, Joel’s life could not be saved.
In a poignant update on the CaringBridge page by Karl Henselin, the family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received from countless friends who visited, texted, and called. The post highlighted the shared wisdom from the Bible and the profound pain felt by those grieving Joel’s untimely passing.
Hannah’s siblings Lydia, Charis, and Micah stood by the Henselin family throughout the day, offering comfort and support. Charis and Micah, who drove through the night to be with the family, sacrificed sleep and time with their families to provide solace. Lydia’s assistance in running errands was deeply appreciated.
Friends Kris Guinter, Debbie Neir, Gretchen Jaschob, and Jenni Schubring also stayed with the family, providing much-needed support during this challenging time.
Joel’s visitation will be open to the public on Thursday, November 16th, from 5-7 pm at St. Mark DePere. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, November 17th, from 10 am – 1:30 pm, also at St. Mark DePere.
