Loudon, NH – In a tragic incident, a helicopter owned by JBI Helicopter Services crashed in the woods of Croydon, New Hampshire, resulting in the loss of the pilot’s life. The pilot, Carl Svenson, 73, from Loudon, New Hampshire, had taken off at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, en route to work in Quonset Point, Rhode Island. However, after departure, the helicopter disappeared from radar, prompting a search operation.

The Croydon Fire Department received a report of the missing aircraft around 10:30 p.m., initiating a joint search effort involving NH Fish and Game Conservation Officers, the NH State Police Helicopter Unit, and the Croydon Fire Department. The search was focused on Pine Hill Road in Croydon, suspected to be near the crash site.

A ground search crew discovered the crashed helicopter around 1:50 a.m. on Monday, revealing substantial damage. Tragically, Carl Svenson, the sole occupant, was found deceased at the crash site. Svenson, a seasoned pilot with a career spanning five decades, had been associated with JBI Helicopter Services since the 1980s.

The aviation community and the local town of Croydon mourn the loss of a pilot with extensive experience and contributions to the industry.
