Jamea Harris was shot dead by a University of Alabama basketball player named Darius Miles.
Harris was inside a car with a person whose identity had not been disclosed by the authorities.
They found her dead inside the vehicle on the Strip in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The 23-year-old was from Birmingham, Alamaba, and a mother of a five-year-old son.
Several friends and family members have taken to social media to share their respect and tribute to her.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the benefit of Jamea’s son, Kaine, which has already raised over $20,000.

At 1:45 am Sunday, January 15, the Tuscaloosa police responded to a shooting in Tuscaloosa.
The police vehicle, moving towards the Walk of the Champions at the Bryant Denny Stadium, encountered a car that stopped upon their sighting.
A bullet had struck the car’s driver, who said that his return fire had also injured one of the perpetrators.
Sadly, Jamea Harris was already dead inside the car when police found them.
Capt. Jack Kennedy of Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes said a suspect was struck by gunfire and had a non-life-threatening wound.
A minor argument between the victims and the suspects caused the shooting at 400 Block of Grace Street off University Boulevard.
Police identified the two suspects after speaking with witnesses and looking at surveillance cameras.
They apprehended the two suspects, a man named Michael Lynn Davis and Alabama basketball player Darius Miles.

Darius Miles And Michael Lynn Davis Arrested
Darius Miles and Michael Lynn Davis were arrested on January 16 for the murder of Jamea Harris.
Miles is a forward on the Alabama Crimson Tides basketball team and wears the #2 jersey.
He is from Washington, D.C., and completed high school at Theodore Roosevelt High School in his hometown.
According to college statistics, he stands at 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) and 185 lb (84 kg).
The last time Darius played for the Alabama Crimson Tide team was on December 20, 2022, game against Jackson State, where he scored two points in their 84-64 win.

A video of Miles’ arrest was released on the internet, where he can be seen saying, “I love you more than you can imagine” to someone.
Following Miles’ arrest, the University of Alabama released a statement addressing the situation and stating that he had been removed from the campus.
Darius Miles’ bio and records have already been removed from the college website.
The exact motive of the murder is yet to be identified, but it is believed that they killed her because she refused to flirt with them.
However, a few days before the incident, the Univesity announced that he would miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
The frustration of missing the rest of the games must have taken a toll on the young player.
