Every summer while growing up Brett would go to stay in Kansas with his grandparents and Uncle Jack and Aunt Sheila. He had some of his best memories and life lessons farming in the summer. This week heaven gained a good one, Uncle Jack. Jack was one of the most patient, smart, kind and ‘would never get too worked up’ men you could meet. Jack taught Brett a lot about life, farming, and was truly a great friend to him. Jack supported Brett by going to his games throughout the years and that meant so much to Brett to have him there. Jack loved his family and we would cherish our trips to Kansas to get our farm fix. Blake would ask that we just “drop him off at Uncle Jack’s house” knowing that he would get to ride on the tractor, ride in the combine or check the cattle with Jack. The best part is that we would all want to do those things and Uncle Jack didn’t mind that we were slowing him down when we all joined. Uncle Jack let the kids show his calves in the fair. They loved knowing that they were Uncle Jack’s – and they would light up when they see Jack in the stands to watch them show. We joke that Brett’s true calling is a Doctor/Farmer – and it is because of his memories with Jack and Grandpa Cornett. Brett’s favorite phone calls to this day are when he would call Jack while he was harvesting and they would just chat. I have a feeling those were Jack’s favorites too. After he gave Jesus and his parents a big hug, I am sure Jack already jumped on a combine in Heaven to help finish harvest. We love you, Jack!
