Portland, ME – Heather Erin (Reagan) Brown, a beloved soul, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle against breast cancer. She graced the lives of her family, friends, and colleagues with her radiant spirit and unwavering dedication to public service.

Heather was a remarkable individual, displaying wisdom beyond her years from childhood. Her commitment to academics was evident as she graduated as salutatorian from Windham High School in 1997. She excelled not only in academics but also on the soccer field and in her passion for singing. Her talents and dedication earned her international recognition as a member of the acclaimed Windham Chamber Singers, winning the Prize of Vienna in Austria in 1996.

Following her dreams, Heather attended Marietta College on a scholarship, honing her communication skills and engaging in volunteer work that empowered young minds. Heather’s journey took her to Long Island, New York, where she ran a county-wide political race and met her loving husband, Seth. She continued her career in New York City, making significant contributions as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and earning a Masters in Public Administration from CUNY-Baruch College.

Heather’s dedication to public service and her passion for making a difference led her to Washington D.C., where she rose to the esteemed position of Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Her impactful work focused on reducing prescription drug costs and enhancing public health. After a fulfilling 12-year tenure in D.C., Heather returned to her roots in Maine, serving as the Assistant City Manager in Portland.

A loving mother and devoted wife, Heather cherished her family and treasured every moment. She leaves behind her adored children, Ezra and Abigail, and her loving husband, Seth. They enjoyed meaningful family activities, embracing the joys of hiking, gardening, and cooking together. Heather is also survived by her caring parents, Carl and Carol Reagan, and her sisters, Cortney and Ashley, along with nieces and a nephew who held a special place in her heart.

Heather’s kindness, love, and generosity touched many lives, including her extended family and friends. In her last days, she selflessly ensured the comfort and well-being of those around her, embodying the essence of her character.

Heather wished to be remembered with smiles and cherished moments spent with loved ones. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Gosnell House for their exceptional care during her final days.

A funeral service celebrating Heather’s remarkable life will be held at Congregation Bet Ha’am on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Maine Cancer Foundation in Heather’s memory, a cause close to her heart. Heather’s legacy of love, compassion, and service lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
