However, the same cannot be said about his reel-life character Leo Pap on Netflix’s latest hit, Kaleidoscope. The main character and heist Leader has Parkinson’s disease.

Throughout the series, Giancarlo portrays specific symptoms of the condition, including hand tremors, slowed movement, spasming, and trouble walking.

But there is also one thing Kaleidoscope got wrong about the disease, writes Pop Sugar.

In the “Green” episode, Leo Pap/ Ray Vernon is taken to the prison medic after what appears to be a middle-of-the-night spasm or seizure.

After reviewing his symptoms, the doctor diagnoses him with Parkinson’s and states that it is “an incurable terminal illness,” causing confusion among viewers and fans.

Besides, Giancarlo once took a break from acting and flew to Wilmington to talk about something he does not often discuss, mental illness in his family.

Speaking at Coastal Horizons Center’s annual luncheon, he shared that his mother battled mental illness, and he had to take care of her starting at age 17.

He also said there’s a Stigma around mental illness, which needs to be broken. “That’s why I shared a personal story that I would not ordinarily share,” Esposito said.

He added that he was not embarrassed by it anymore like he suggested others not to be.

“Education, communication, and compassion will change how we look at it and how we get better,” the Actor noted.
