Renowned Canadian radio broadcaster Elizabeth Gray, known for her extensive contributions to the field, has passed away at the age of 86 after battling lung cancer. With a career spanning several decades, Gray made a significant impact in the world of journalism, working across various global locations and engaging with diverse media formats.
Having served in key positions in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, London, and Moscow, Gray was involved in delivering compelling stories for television, radio, newspapers, and magazines. Her dedication to CBC saw her contributing to both local and national programs, including Morningside and Sunday Morning, where her distinct voice and storytelling prowess resonated with audiences.
Throughout her illustrious career, Gray’s commitment to journalistic excellence earned her three Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, and Radio Artists (ACTRA) awards. Her professional journey was closely intertwined with that of her husband, the journalist John Gray, and the couple raised two children.
While known for her roles as a researcher on Cross-Country Checkup and as a substitute presenter on This Country in the Morning and Morningside, Gray’s tenure as the co-host of As It Happens remains a significant chapter in her legacy.
