Tragedy struck Monday morning as a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra Union Pacific Northwest (UP-NW) train near the Edison Park station on the city’s Northwest Side.

The incident involving train #634 brought inbound and outbound services to a halt around 8 a.m., causing a temporary suspension of trains in both directions near the Edison Park area. Despite efforts to resume service, significant delays persisted as Metra worked to restore operations following the distressing occurrence.
