College Station, TX – The St. Mary’s Catholic Center community is in mourning following the unexpected passing of one of its permanent parishioners, Ed McDonald. He was 45 years old at the time of his passing. Ed’s vibrant and unique personality endeared him to all who knew him, and his friends fondly remember his love for laughter. His untimely death, announced by St. Mary’s Catholic Center, leaves a void in the hearts of many, with no cause of death disclosed at the time of this report.
St. Mary’s Catholic Center issued a statement addressing Ed McDonald’s passing, acknowledging the profound loss experienced by the Aggie Catholic family. They will hold a Mass of Remembrance for Ed, allowing the community to come together to celebrate his life and offer gratitude for the impact he had on their lives.
“The Aggie Catholic family experienced a tragic loss this past weekend.One of our permanent parishioners, Ed McDonald, passed away very unexpectedly. Originally from Rhode Island, Ed came to Texas A&M for grad school and was confirmed at St. Mary’s in 2006.Since that time, Ed had served the St. Mary’s community for the past 15 years as a leader of the RCIA and Confirmation Team where he guided countless students to encounter Jesus Christ in the sacraments just as he did. He was a model for all of us in the areas of hospitality, evangelization, and selfless service._______________

Born in Rhode Island, Ed found his spiritual home at St. Mary’s in 2006 when he relocated to Texas A&M for his graduate studies. Over the span of 15 years, Ed became an indispensable presence within the St. Mary’s community, dedicating his leadership skills to the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) and Confirmation Team.
Ed’s guidance and mentorship played a pivotal role in guiding numerous students on their journeys to encounter Jesus Christ through the sacraments, mirroring his own profound spiritual experience. He embodied the qualities of hospitality, evangelization, and selfless service, setting an exemplary standard for those around him. Ed’s kindness, selflessness, and boundless generosity were hallmarks of his character, all offered without expectation of reciprocation.
Above all, Ed served as an unwavering source of inspiration, a steady beacon guiding countless individuals to hold onto their faith in God even amidst the challenges of the world. His serene presence brought comfort to those he touched, and his profound kindness left an enduring imprint on the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Ed possessed a unique gift for reaching the deepest recesses of people’s souls, leaving them profoundly moved and forever changed by his influence.
