David Van Wingerden, a beloved Ohio native and dedicated employee of Express Seed Company, has passed away at the age of 51. After a valiant 19-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, he peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 15, 2024. His life was marked by service, love, and unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community.

Born on May 30, 1972, in Oberlin, Ohio, to John and Dawn (Radcliffe) van Wingerden, David’s journey unfolded with a commitment to service and faith. He attended The Master’s University in southern California, majoring in Business and Biblical Counseling, where he met and married his wife, Keri, in 1995.

Following their wedding, David and Keri embarked on a life-changing mission in Debre Zeit, Ethiopia, for 16 months. David’s advisory role to local farms and his establishment of Genesis Farms showcased his passion for agriculture and community development. His impact extended to an orphanage, where he selflessly cared for a group of children.

Returning to Ohio, David and Keri raised a loving family of five children: TJ, Makannen, Chatham, Jack, and Kaytence. As a father, he will be remembered for his love, leadership, and a commitment to nurturing not only their academic growth but, more importantly, their love for Christ and Scripture.

David’s professional journey included roles at Green Circle Growers and Express Seed Company. His dedication and love for his work were evident as he rose through the ranks. He considered his job not just work but a passion that allowed him to connect with people and explore different places.

A Deacon at Grace Church of North Olmsted, David’s commitment extended beyond his role, ensuring the building’s upkeep and serving as an unofficial minister of love. He actively participated on Boards for Capital Commission, The Master’s University and Seminary, and Upterra, leaving a lasting impact.
