Selinsgrove, PA – The Selinsgrove community is mourning the loss of Corey Wert, a cherished teacher within the Midd-West School District, who passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and compassion. News of his passing, shared through a heartfelt Facebook post that highlighted his significant role in promoting youth bowling, has left his family, friends, colleagues, and students devastated. While the exact cause of his death remains undisclosed, the impact of his absence reverberates throughout the community.
Corey’s academic journey began at Milton Area High School before he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics Teacher Education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1991. His commitment to educational excellence led him to further pursue a Master of Technology (MTech) in Educational/Instructional Technology from the same university in 2004.

Prior to his teaching career, Corey garnered valuable experience as a Shift Manager at CVS Health in Danville, Pennsylvania, where he demonstrated proficiency in managing bank deposits, overseeing accounting procedures, and implementing effective inventory management practices. His role also encompassed creating engaging product displays that enhanced the overall shopping experience for customers.
His passion for fostering efficient organizational processes led him to serve as the Office Manager at Institutional Eye Care in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where he introduced streamlined computerization in inventory and invoicing operations, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the office.
In the Midd-West School District, Corey served as a dedicated Teacher, imparting knowledge across various subjects, including Statistics, Supply Chain Management, Consumer Mathematics, Personal Finance, and Multimedia Productions. His commitment to nurturing a comprehensive understanding of these subjects among his students underscored his profound impact within the school’s academic environment. Corey Wert’s dedication to education and his contributions to the lives of his students will be remembered fondly within the Selinsgrove community.
