The mysterious death of Nicola Bulley, a British mother of two, who disappeared on January 27, 2023, has been shrouded in public speculation for months. The recent release of the autopsy and post-mortem reports has provided some clarity on the circumstances surrounding Bulley’s demise and dispelled various online theories.
Bulley’s body was discovered in the River Wyre on February 19, 2023, prompting a substantial search effort involving police, divers, helicopters, canines, and drones. Criticism arose concerning the police’s handling of the case, particularly their disclosure of Bulley’s personal health issues with alcohol and perimenopause, fueling various theories on social media.
The autopsy report revealed that Bulley’s cause of death was drowning, and she was alive when she entered the water. No signs of injury or struggle were found, and there were no traces of alcohol or drugs impairing her faculties. The report concluded her death was accidental, with no intention of self-harm.
Entering cold water, such as the river, triggered a cold shock response, causing Bulley to gasp, inhale water, and drown within seconds.
