In a deeply saddening turn of events, Casie Riney, a cherished member of the Newton, Iowa community and dedicated employee at Capstone Behavioral Healthcare, passed away on Monday, October 9th, 2023. The news of her demise has left her family and the community devastated. The heartbreaking announcement was made through a poignant Facebook post, urging friends and family to keep her father, Buck Curfman, and Casie’s children – Tate, Matthew, Alex, and Jackson – in their thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
At the core of Casie Riney’s identity was her role as a mother, a position she embraced with unparalleled love and dedication. Her children were the pride and joy of her life, and her nurturing spirit provided solace and encouragement amidst life’s challenges. Casie possessed a unique ability to transform ordinary moments into cherished memories, whether it was through crafting sessions with her children or bedtime stories that sparked imagination. Her unwavering love and guidance provided a strong foundation for her children to grow and thrive.
Casie Riney was not only a devoted mother but also a steadfast protector, confidante, and biggest cheerleader for her family. In her role as a wife, she epitomized commitment and partnership. Her love for her spouse was profound and enduring, exemplifying the true essence of marriage as a journey shared together. Casie understood the significance of communication and compromise, nurturing a healthy marriage built on mutual respect and unwavering support. World mental health day….I decided 2 years ago that my staff should have this day off. A day to do something for their own mental health…with or without their kids, having a spa day, sleeping in or just reading a book. My staff at Capstone are the best. They do their best every day to take care of our patients. They deserve a day to take care of their own mental health. Well, today we all spent it grieving the loss of one of our staff, our family, our friend and mentor. Today we spent the day grieving Casie Riney. She left this earth way too soon. We weren’t ready to say goodbye. We weren’t ready to come to work without her there. We just weren’t ready. Casie was one of a kind. She came to Capstone when we were struggling. She was able to help me turn everything around with her great big caring heart. Casie and I became great friends. We shared our struggles, our laughter and our tears. Casie and Matthew’s kids grew up at Capstone. We are all a family. My heart breaks for her kids, Matthew and all of us who loved her. Casie was the strongest person that I have ever known. She did everything with a smile on her face and love in her heart. I personally will miss her so much, but I am so thankful for the memories. In honor of October being Halloween, I am sharing these pictures of when I brought in all my costumes for all the staff to wear! Dr. VanCleve was even a good sport! Your memory will live on Casie!
