The Geelong community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Blake Albones, Chief Sales Officer at Galilee Solicitors. Albones, a beloved figure, passed away on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, leaving his friends, family, and colleagues in shock. The news was confirmed by the Oak Park Football Club, where Albones was known as a great player, in a heartfelt statement: “The Oak Park Football Club has been rocked by the sudden passing of one of their greats and beloved Past Player Blake ‘Boner’ Albones.”
Albones, an alum of Willetton Senior High School, graduated in 1996 and went on to make significant contributions in the corporate world. He worked at PLAN Australia in Melbourne as a Senior BDM Vic/Tas, where he spent 7 years and 10 months recruiting and retaining mortgage brokers in Victoria and Tasmania. His dedication was evident as he ensured compliance with all State and National legislation, built strong relationships with local BDM’s and State Managers of lender partners, and provided valuable business training and marketing support for mortgage brokers within his portfolio.
Later, Albones joined Advantedge Financial Services, where he served as the National Lending Manager, leading a team of 11 credit officers. His focus on business improvement and process efficiency, along with recruiting and retaining staff, contributed significantly to the company’s growth. He was then promoted to the position of Head of Broker Sales, managing BDM teams in Vic/Tas, SA/NT, and WA. During his tenure at NAB, where he served as the Head of NAB Broker Vic/Tas, he showcased his leadership skills and dedication to the industry.
In December 2020, Albones took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at RateOne Home Loans & Financial Planning, demonstrating his commitment to the financial sector. Later, he served as the Head of Lending Distribution at MyState Bank, where he played a crucial role in driving Home Loan book growth through Broker, Retail, and Digital channels.
