People are curious to know about Reid Wiseman religion after NASA announced the names of four astronauts for their Artemis 2 mission who will fly to the moon in NASA’s new rocket and test if landing and exploring the moon is possible.
The Space Launch System (SLS) launch for Artemis 2 (formally known as Artemis II) is scheduled for November 2024. It is the second mission of NASA’s Artemis program and the first crewed flight of the Orion spacecraft.
The Artemis 2 will be manned by four astronauts, three of whom will be the first woman, person of color, and non-American to fly beyond low Earth orbit.
NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency are the astronauts.
Gregory Reid Wiseman is a renowned Navy aviator and test pilot who was chosen as a NASA astronaut for the first time in 2009. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and has previously been in space once, spending 165 days on the International Space Station in 2014.
Before retiring in November 2022, Wiseman most recently served as the astronaut office’s chief, making him qualified for a flying assignment. As commander, Wiseman will oversee the Artemis II mission.

The NASA astronaut was born on November 11, 1975, in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Timonium’s Dulaney High School.

He was married to Carroll Taylor and had two daughters with her. Carroll died in May 2020, at the age of 46, after a five-year struggle with cancer.

Reid Wiseman Career Highlights
After graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1997, Reid was commissioned through the Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) program and reported to the Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida for flying training.
He was chosen to attend the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School (NTPS) at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, with NTPS Class 125 during his second deployment in 2003.
Gregory joined the Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Three (VX-23) at NAS Patuxent River as a Test Pilot and Project Officer after graduating in June 2004.
He was promoted to Naval Aviator in 1999 and reported to Fighter Squadron 101, Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia, for the changeover to the F-14 Tomcat.
Reid Wiseman was chosen as one of nine members of NASA’s 20th astronaut class in June 2009. He began astronaut training at the Johnson Space Center in August 2009 and completed it in May 2011.
He was a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy at the time, operating as a pilot with Strike Fighter Squadron 103 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), located at NAS Oceana, Virginia.
Wiseman stated that as a child, he frequently attended the US Navy’s “Blue Angels” demonstrations and acquired a strong ambition to become an astronaut after witnessing a Space Shuttle launch in person in 2001.

The Artemis 2 mission will be led by Reid Wiseman. This will be NASA’s first crewed flight around the moon in well than 50 years, following the Apollo program.
He was appointed to Head of the Astronaut Office at NASA on December 18, 2020. However, in the month of December 2022, Wiseman stepped aside from this post, and his deputy, Drew Feustel, took over as interim head until Joseph Acaba took over as Chief in February 2023.
