Plainfield, Illinois – A horrifying stabbing incident has left an 8-year-old boy dead and his mother seriously injured, shocking the community of Plainfield, a Chicago suburb. The gruesome attack occurred on Saturday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Around 11:38 a.m., deputies from the Will County Sheriff’s Office rushed to a residence near the intersection of S. Lincoln Highway and Lily Cache Road in Plainfield, following a distress call reporting a stabbing. The 911 call came from a 32-year-old woman who detailed a vicious assault by her landlord using a knife. In a desperate bid to survive, she barricaded herself in the bathroom while contacting emergency services.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found the suspect, identified as 71-year-old Joseph M. Czuba of Plainfield, sitting outside the residence with a laceration to his forehead. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Inside the home, in a bedroom, they discovered two victims, the 32-year-old woman, and her 8-year-old son, both with multiple stab wounds to their chest, torso, and upper extremities.
The 32-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, having endured over a dozen stab wounds. Tragically, the young boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Czuba, the suspect, was later treated and released from the hospital and taken into custody for questioning.
