The Snead State Community reels from the heartbreaking news of the untimely demise of Brooks Edmund Hardie, a former student-athlete who tragically passed away during a duck hunting trip. The 22-year-old, identified as Brooks Edmund Hardie, was found deceased after an incident during a duck hunting excursion near Goose Pond Resort on Lake Guntersville.
Reports indicate that on Saturday morning, while engaged in duck hunting near Goose Pond Colony, a kayak mishap occurred, causing Hardie to submerge in the water and tragically not resurface. His body was recovered in Georgia near Lake Guntersville’s Goose Pond Resort around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023.
Numerous agencies, including ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division, Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries Division, and various rescue squads, collaborated in the extensive recovery efforts. Eddie Tigue from the Scottsboro Jackson Rescue Squad highlighted the challenges faced during the recovery due to navigating through the lake’s grass.
