Mario and Karen Thompson are Alyssa Thompson’s father and mother, respectively.
Both of her parents are former sportspeople. They were involved in different fields during their high school and college days.

Thompson’s father, Mario, played football, basketball, and track in high school and college. On the other hand, Alyssa’s mother, Karen, moved across the country to play basketball in her youth.
Alyssa Thompson also has two younger siblings – Gisele and Zoe. Gisele is also passionate about soccer. Alyssa and Gisele became the first HS athlete to sign with Nike.
Alyssa Thompson’s dad currently works as a principal at an elementary school. “I am a teacher, and my kids weren’t going to be the tallest children in the world, but they would be fast,’ said Mario.
The Thompson sister’s parents are highly supportive of their careers. In addition, the doting parents have worked hard daily to reach today’s height. They must be proud of their daughters.
Alyssa Thompson Family Ethnicity
Born On 7 November 2004, Alyssa Thompson grew up in Studio City, which is 20 miles away from Angel City’s BMO Stadium.
Regarding her ethnicity, the Los Angeles native reportedly has Filipino and Peruvian descent.
Alyssa’s parents signed her and her sister, Gisele, to TFA (Total Futbol Academy) in 2013. The Angel City FC forward was only nine then.
Two years after that, they transferred to Real So Cal. The 18-year-old forward returned to TFA in 2020 and participated for its under-19 team in the MLS Next league.
Interestingly, she was the only female player in the league. The skilled soccer player played for Harvard-Westlake School and was a star athlete, scoring 48 goals in 18 games.

National team and club soccer didn’t allow her to play during her junior season. But in her senior year, she was drafted to play professionally.
In April 2021, she earned the Gatorade girls’ soccer national player of the year.
Alyssa Thompson Committed To Cardinal Of Stanford University
Alyssa Thompson verbally committed to joining the Cardinal of Stanford University in 2020. She was 15 years old at that tie.
However, she recommitted to and entered the 2023 NWSL Draft. Angel City FC selected her on 12 January 2023 with the first overall pick in the draft.
Moreover, Alyssa Thompson has participated in the U.S. under-20s, where she won a gold medal in CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship in 2022.
She also played in the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
On 9 April 2023, the forward received a call-up to the senior team to fill up for an injured Mallory Swanson in a friendly matchup against Ireland on 11 April.
