Sacramento, CA – A devastating incident unfolded early Sunday morning in Sacramento County, resulting in the fatal shooting of two individuals near a nightclub in the south Sacramento neighborhood of Sacto by Night. The Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a shooting around 1:45 a.m. in the 7000 block of Governors Circle, discovering two victims with severe gunshot wounds who tragically succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Among the deceased was 23-year-old Ryu Kai Her, as confirmed by his grieving family. The second individual, identified as the owner of Sacto By Night nightclub, remains unnamed by the coroner or family, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office as of Monday night.

The Sheriff’s Office detailed that the nightclub owner was one of the victims involved in the shooting incident. After fleeing in a white vehicle, the assailants were apprehended by California Highway Patrol agents. An investigation revealed a confrontation between a gang inside the nightclub that escalated into a violent altercation in the parking lot, leading to the fatal shooting.
Ryu Kai Her, born in Stockton and an alumnus of Cesar Chavez High School, had pursued education at Delta College and was employed at the Stockton Unified School District. Described by his family as a sports enthusiast who cherished fishing and served on the praise and worship team, Ryu Kai Her was known for his multifaceted interests and involvement in various activities.
He was a beloved son to his mother, Mee Yang, and his unexpected passing has deeply saddened those who knew him. His family plans to release Ryu Kai Her’s obituary and details regarding funeral arrangements at a later date, allowing time for mourning and remembrance of a life tragically cut short.
