Born to Robert and Dorothy Kottsick in Northwood, North Dakota, on November 9, 1957, Randy Kottsick’s life was marked by his academic achievements and athletic prowess. Graduating from Mandan High School in 1976, he pursued football and baseball scholarships at Valley City State University, where he held enduring baseball records. His time at VCSU also led to meeting Debra Coughlin, whom he married in 1980.

Following their marriage, Randy and Debra settled in Mandan, raising their family before eventually relocating to Grand Forks. Randy’s professional journey spanned various sales roles, and he spent eighteen years as the owner of a State Farm Insurance agency, where he took immense pride in personally knowing his customers and their stories.

His greatest happiness came from spending time with his four grandchildren, sharing his love for fishing and hunting with his sons.

Remembered for his kind heart, unwavering determination, and eagerness to assist others, Randy Kottsick’s legacy will endure in the hearts of those he touched.

Friends, family, and the community are invited to a memorial service on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., with an hour of visitation preceding the service at First Lutheran Church in Mandan, North Dakota, offering an opportunity to honor Randy’s impactful life and bid him a fond farewell.
