Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Pastor Dan Beattie from Audubon Iowa dies in motorcycle crash

Audubon, Iowa – The community of Audubon grieves the sudden and tragic passing of Daniel Royce Beattie, the former pastor of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, following a devastating motorcycle accident. Beattie, aged 56, met an untimely demise in a collision involving a pickup truck in Perry County.

The Iowa State Patrol confirmed Beattie’s death in a statement following the distressing incident. Details regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident have yet to be disclosed by Beattie’s family.

The fatal collision occurred on Friday afternoon in northwest Dallas County, west of Dawson. According to reports from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2017 Dodge RAM pickup, driven by 64-year-old Gary Bugger of Boone, turned left onto C Avenue, inadvertently intersecting with Beattie’s 2010 BMW motorcycle’s path.

The collision resulted in Beattie being thrown from his motorcycle, tragically leading to his demise at the scene after landing in the south ditch. The Iowa State Patrol, alongside support from the Dallas and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Departments and the Dallas County Medical Examiner, conducted investigations at the site.

Daniel Royce Beattie, a beloved resident of Audubon, Iowa, and the former pastor of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, shared a life journey with his former wife Charlene Beattie. During their marriage, they were blessed with four children. Beattie pursued a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in divinity, becoming ordained as a minister in 1996. His dedication to ministry was interspersed with periods of service.

In the wake of this tragic loss, the Audubon community mourns the passing of a respected figure, reflecting on Beattie’s commitment to faith and his lasting impact on the lives of many.
