Somerset, WI – A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Thursday, November 30, 2023, as a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of Brody Lee Shipe. The Polk County Emergency Call Center received a distressing 911 call at 10:43 p.m., reporting a collision on State Highway 65 near 20th Avenue in Alden. Authorities swiftly responded to an automatic crash notification from an iPhone, rushing to the west side of Highway 65 where a pickup truck had veered off the road, striking trees.

Tragically, Brody Shipe, the driver, succumbed to the impact of the collision, leaving the community in mourning. Known for his vibrant spirit and kind-heartedness, Brody’s passing has deeply affected those who knew him.

In the wake of this devastating loss, a GoFundMe page has been initiated by Jessica Howe to assist Brody Shipe’s family. Describing Brody as a reflection of his parents’ giving nature, the fundraising aims to support his family during this trying time. Contributions received will be divided between the family and Somerset WI Schools, serving as a tribute to Brody’s memory.

His mom Delaina is one of the most loyal giving people I have ever known, and she and Jan raised Brody with that same hardworking giving spirit. They are not the type to ask for anything, but to always give. Please help us support them as they say goodbye to their beautiful son. Money raised will be split between the family and Somerset WI Schools in Brody’s honor and memory.”

“Delaina was a long time Washington County Sheriff’s Office employee and is a much loved member of the communities of Somerset and Hudson. Any donation or meal would be greatly appreciated to help,” Jessica added.
